Founder and President
Joanne Colucci is the Founder and President of Joanne Colucci Consultations, Inc., an innovative corporate security consulting firm focused on meeting the rapidly changing security and business continuity needs of domestic and global companies.
Ms. Colucci brings a wealth of experience to this role, having spent more than 25 years rising through the ranks of American Express’ security organization to reach the position of Director of Global Security Services, overseeing workplace violence, risk assessment, pre-employment screening, conflict resolution, due diligence, business continuity planning, and crisis response.
During her time with American Express, Ms. Colucci has achieved hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings by centralizing the pre-employment screening process to a single vendor, designing a risk assessment procedure integrated into the corporate onboarding process, and negotiating a critical due diligence agreement. A national expert in workplace and domestic violence, she has designed and implemented vital, nationally recognized programs to identify, prevent, and assist victims of workplace and intimate violence. As part of this, she also created and led program training for management.
Ms. Colucci’s experience also includes crisis management and emergency response. In 1993, she coordinated the evacuation of employees during the World Trade Center bombings. And in 2001, she successfully evacuated more than 8,000 employees during the events of 9/11.
As a Security Supervisor and Manager, she supervised 150 security officers responsible for site protection during the construction of the World Financial Center in Manhattan, and earned several promotions to oversee cargo security, console operations, and other functions. She also authored procedures for U.S. security operations still in effect today.
Prior to joining American Express, Ms. Colucci held security officer positions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Manhattan, where she and her team kept several individuals safe when more than 60 heavily armed individuals took over the building, creating a siege situation that lasted for several hours.
Ms. Colucci holds an MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a BS in Criminal Justice from Mercy College, along with her Certified Protection Professional designation. She has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education in a variety of areas, including active shooter, workplace violence, organizational risk assessment, criminal background checks, EEOC regulations, behavioral analysis, interview techniques, non-violent crisis intervention, and interrogation.
A resident of Massachusetts, Ms. Colucci is a member of the American Society of Industrial Security, Association of Threat Assessment Professionals and a licensed private investigator. She is a founding member and currently serves on the Board of Corporate Alliance to End Partner Violence. She is a frequent speaker and presenter in the fields of corporate security, workplace violence, and domestic violence, and the co-author of numerous white papers, articles, and manuals.
